My Cheeses Year

Many people refer to age thirty-three as their “Jesus year” because that is the age JC dropped most of his mics before taking a final bow. The Google says the meaning is that it is a year to get things done and make your mark. Well, I passed that particular exit a few miles back but I would still like to check a few life boxes this year.

One of those boxes concerns food. I am not a cook, nor do I consider myself a “foodie” in any sense of the word, but I do have an obsession with food, particularly food history, and I believe the best expression of that obsession is through writing. Tunneling even further down this rabbit hole, if I could focus on only one particular “genre” that I am most passionate about (and would thus most like to write about) it would be cheese.

In fact, if I had a realistic life mantra, it would be a line borrowed from my culinary hero, Wallace, of Wallace and Gromit fame: “We’ll go where there’s cheese!” Yes, yes indeed Wallace. Let’s go where there’s cheese so we can live the gouda life!
